Karla González-Acosta

Karla F. González-Acosta completed her Bachelor Degree in Public Communications from the University of Puerto Rico in 1999, fulfilling courses in Advertising, Public Relations, Radio, TV, Film and Design, among others. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she worked as the designer and director for a local educational newspaper produced by the University of Puerto Rico and with several advertising agencies in product campaigns.
In 2003, she obtained her Juris Doctor from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. In 2004 she was admitted to the practice in Puerto Rico and became a Bar member.
In 2005, Karla was accepted in the Intellectual Property LL.M. program at The George Washington University Law School. She completed courses in Copyright Law, Patent Law, Trademark Law, Entertainment Law, Art Law, Cyber Law, Licensing IP, Mass and Media Law, and Communications Law Policy.
After completing the LL.M., Karla returned to Puerto Rico and worked for different law firms as an of-counsel attorney in the Intellectual Property field, especially in the Copyright, Entertainment and Trademarks areas.
Karla became a Florida Bar member in 2008, and established her practice in the Tampa Bay area. In 2010, she and attorney Nicole McConnie- Jensen combined their professional skills and backgrounds, and formed González-Acosta & McConnie-Jensen.
Mrs. González-Acosta is associated with attorneys in countries around the world including the European Union, China, India, and several countries in Central and South America.
Nicole McConnie-Jensen

Nicole McConnie-Jensen was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she grew up in a family-oriented household. In the spring of 2002, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from the University of Puerto Rico, graduating magna cum laude. During the summer of 2001, her aspirations became clear after successfully completing an internship with the Honorable Patrick Kennedy (D-Rhode Island) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In the fall of 2003, Nicole began her legal studies at the Interamerican University School of Law in Puerto Rico. She became an active member of various organizations such as the Federal Bar Association, became the secretary of the Muñoz Chapter of the law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, and completed an internship in the American Civil Liberties Union. Nicole's hard work and dedication put her on the Dean's List and Honor Roll for every semester. She also received a scholarship for the duration of her legal studies and graduated magna cum laude, ranking in the top 5 percent of the Class of 2005.
While in law school, Nicole worked as a Law Clerk for Rossello & Morales, P.A., acquiring experience in personal injury, litigation and insurance defense. She also worked with a solo practitioner, the Law Office of Julio Nigaglioni, P.A., where she garnered hands-on experience in the areas of constitutional law and labor law in a government-oriented law firm.
After successfully passing the Puerto Rico Bar exam and being admitted to the practice in early 2005, she became a trial attorney for the Department of Justice of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. During that time, she served on the legal defense team in civil cases for several government agencies such as the Department of Transportation, the Department of Housing and Development and the Police Department, among others, practicing labor law, constitutional law, property law, contracts law and personal injury law. Her achievements include numerous dismissals by summary judgment such as a multimillion-dollar political discrimination lawsuit, and favorable trials.
In September 2007, Nicole moved to the Tampa Bay area and began working in a local personal injury law firm, gaining experience in all aspects of the field and developing a passion for helping clients receive fair compensation for their injuries while earning their trust and respect. She was later admitted to the Florida Bar Association and is currently licensed in Puerto Rico and Florida. Nicole successfully advises clients about the laws of Puerto Rico and Florida in her native languages Spanish and English.
Nicole McConnie-Jensen is also a proud member of the Hispanic community. She is active with the Hispanic Bar Association and the Tampa Latin Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers for different Tampa Bay community programs such as the Spanish Tampa Family Forms Clinic and Bay Area Legal Services.
Nicole McConnie-Jensen and Karla F. Gonzalez-Acosta, who share a similar background, values and education, joined forces to establish Gonzalez-Acosta & McConnie-Jensen, Attorneys at Law. The firm strives for and achieves outstanding legal representation, serving English- and Spanish-speaking clients in their native tongue to facilitate the legal process. Nicole McConnie-Jensen handles personal injury cases, including automobile and cruise ship accidents, slip-and-fall accidents and homeowner's insurance claims. She also practices family law, including contested and uncontested divorces, child support and child custody.
Nicole enjoys being outdoors, visiting Tampa Bay's lush beaches, biking, running, fishing, traveling and learning about other cultures, as well as visiting her friends and family in her native island of Puerto Rico.
